District Level Team to National Camp Selections

In a village where girls weren’t allowed to play, weren’t allowed to were shorts & T-shirts, a new football team was created, in which half of the team were playing football for the first time. A district Level football tournament was organized by the Art of Play foundation in which 20 teams participated. And this team won the tournament and felt so proud that they went wearing those shorts & t-shirts and medals in their village.

The next came the district level open tournament where many elite school teams participated in it. And this team – Shehjanabad – defeated 2 of the best teams in the tournament and went on to reach to quarter-finals of the tournament. And for the 1st time in the history of the district football tournament, any girls’ team from a government school participated and reached to Quarter Finals.

This team had some good players and one among them was their captain, Varsha. She would very gracefully dribble the ball among the players and went on to score goals and she was also supported by Sheetal, Chandini, Rajo and Kamaljeet. This team’s defence and attack were lethal. During the district level tournament, these students from Government schools were scouted for the national-level teams. The school, district, and town were shocked by this news as 6 players from government schools were selected for national football tournaments.
